NEIMUN was founded in 2013 to address a significant gap in North East India by providing a platform for young people to realise their potential and transform their lives through its initiatives and activities. Initially, the organisation started as the first Model United Nations Conference in the region with technical support from Best Delegate USA. Over the years, the  organisation has been supported by UNDP India, UNIC India & Bhutan, US Embassy Kolkata, local governments, universities, and colleges.

For nearly a decade, NEIMUN has maintained its commitment to create platforms for young leaders. We are dedicated to addressing the need to raise a generation of values-driven leaders. The organisation is built on the premise that the future of North East India rests on dynamic, ethical, and principled leaders equipped with knowledge and skills to compete, thrive and contribute meaningfully.

NEIMUN has undergone a significant transformation, emerging as the NEIMUN Foundation in 2023. The NEIMUN Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to empower young minds through diverse platforms that stimulates skill development, global connections and inspiration. The Foundation is determined to make an even more significant impact in the lives of young individuals, nurture the leaders of tomorrow, and actively contribute towards a positive impact in Northeast India, the country, and hopefully the world, one step at a time.
